The studio
A new studio, and we'd rather say so.
Most agency sites open with a wall of client logos. This page doesn't have one yet. Here's the honest version instead — who you'd be hiring, how we work, and where we're not the right call.
KBW Studio is early. There's no portfolio on this site because there isn't one to show yet.
We could fill this page with stock mockups and invented case studies. Plenty of new studios do. But you'd find out eventually, and the whole pitch here is that you're dealing with people who tell you the truth about your project — including when the truth isn't flattering.
So: KBW Studio is taking its first clients. What that means for you is straightforward. You get a studio with real room in the schedule, and someone with an obvious reason to make your site good.
What it costs you is the reassurance of seeing ten sites we've already built. That's a fair trade or it isn't, and you get to decide which.
This website. It's built the same way yours would be — hand-written, no page builder, no template bought off a marketplace. If you like how this one reads and how fast it opens on your phone, that's the work.
Who you're hiring
Kayono and Weed-Therley.
Two people, both in Indianapolis. Kayono Blake and Weed-Therley Jean-Charles. We both build, we both meet clients, and either of us will pick up the phone — there's no junior anyone getting handed your project.
Kayono came to this through music production and video production, and taught himself design from there. KBW Studio sits under Ultimate Brands Holdings LLC, the Indiana company he founded, alongside two mobile apps and a small record label. He didn't start the studio instead of building the apps. He does both, because he likes both.
What that's worth to you: design isn't a service we bolted on to have something to sell. It's what we do all day, on our own work, whether a client is paying for it or not.
How we work
Four things we hold to.
-
The price is fixed before we start
You get a number and a scope in writing. It doesn't creep once we're underway, and if the job turns out bigger than we both thought, that's a conversation before it's an invoice.
-
It's yours when it's done
Domain, files, hosting — in your name from the start. We're not interested in holding your website hostage to keep you paying us.
-
Built light, on purpose
Hand-written, no page builder, no stack of plugins. It's more work for us and a faster site for you, which is the correct way round.
-
Plain answers
No jargon, no packages you don't understand, no invoice for something you didn't know you'd agreed to. If you ask what something costs, you get a number.
Fit
Who this is for — and who it isn't.
Saying no to the wrong project early is cheaper for both of us than discovering it halfway through.
Good fit
- Barbershops, salons, and studios
- Restaurants, cafés, and food trucks
- Personal trainers and gyms
- Trades and local service businesses
- Anyone whose site is a Facebook page right now
- Anyone whose current site embarrasses them on a phone
Not a fit
- Large ecommerce catalogs
- Custom booking or reservation systems
- Software, web apps, or anything with user accounts
- Ongoing SEO or ad management retainers
- Anyone who needs a team of ten and a project manager
If that's you, we'll say so on the first call and point you somewhere better.

The first conversation is free. Worst case, you get an honest opinion about the site you already have.
